“You cannot schedule updates for accounts that are not yours”
Today I tried to start scheduling updates on Tweetdeck. I quickly ran into the issue of not being able to set automatic updates. I would like to share how I solved the issue.
I have been using Tweetdeck for about a week now at work. I use Hootsuite on my iPad because I find the interface to be much cleaner. I am starting to be won over to using TweetDeck at work, however, because of the ability to personalize and customize everything, from layout colors and columns to scheduling updates so that they go out when your audience is listening.
I was lucky enough to score a Beta test account of Crowdbooster, so from the data they provided, I was able to see when my tweets would reach the broadest audience. For me, it is around 2pm every day, probably because I follow both people on the West Coast and in Europe, especially the UK.
I wanted to use this data to test timing tweets, so I signed up for a free Tweetdeck account and tried to time my next update for a time when Crowdbooster recommended.
”You cannot schedule updates for accounts that are not yours”
For some reason, Tweetdeck was not able to recognize that I had registered for an account and that it should validate both of the accounts I am running on Tweetdeck at work.
On to Google!
After realizing that Tweetdeck help did not answer my question, I queried Google again and found that this is a known problem. It’s at least nice to know that I am not the only one that this is an issue for!
The solution is a simple, yet annoying, one that involves deleting and re-adding your account. First, close Tweetdeck. Then reopen the program and log back into your Tweetdeck account. After this, go to Settings -> Accounts and select the account you want to remove. Click Remove, then click Add Account and log back into your Twitter account. Once your credentials have been verified, you should be able to schedule updates.
